How do I identify the sub-model of a vauxhall astra estate?

Have aquired a car - a 1994 vauxhall astra diesel estate 1700cc, 5 door manual. How do I find whether my car is a "Merit" or a GS or LS etc? There are no model badges on the car to distinguish, the reg. doc doesn't specify either. The manifold is marked "1.7D".|||Hey ther,

This could be a guessing game based on what accessories you have.

i.e. Power Windows, Illuiminated vanity lights, Electric Door Mirrors, front fog lights, Traffic master system, radio/cassette if original is fitted.

Soem exterior trim can also identify which model it is.

Look at other models in comparison.

However some insurance web sites may show you the trim level if you put the reg in for a quote.

For example the 93 Cavalier GLS and CD had heated and electric door mirrors, but the CD also had front fog lights as standard.

The L and LS did not come with tinted glass as standard.

Also have a look in a haynes manual, it might offer some notes on trim in each model, or try an owners club website

Good Luck !
